Permits, Safety and Equipment
Replacing a furnace, heat pump or ductwork in California is permitted work. LADBS issues the permit in Mar Vista, Palms, West Los Angeles, Venice and Brentwood. Santa Monica and Culver City use their own building and safety divisions.
Title 24 Part 6 can require duct sealing and a leakage test on a change-out, depending on the scope. California law requires carbon monoxide alarms in homes with a fuel-burning appliance, a fireplace or an attached garage, and we check that yours are in place.
