Before anyone drives out, we ask about the building. Is there an attic hatch, and how much headroom is up there? Does the floor sit on a raised foundation with a crawlspace under it? Is the outdoor unit on a roof, a side yard, or a balcony, and does an HOA set rules for it? Older bungalows and Art Deco flats in Santa Monica and Venice often have no ducts at all, while Mar Vista tract houses tend to run one central return through a tight attic.
